This work is about collecting and combining the symbolism of colours throughout art history and psychology. I played with their meaning by sometimes putting the opposite meanings next to each other; by choosing the colours that have something to do with the mood I am-or have already been in; or choosing them by chance. Then I write those words with the color that they stand for or just use the colours, until an abstract, pattern-like drawing is made. Using the wooden end of a paintbrush, I scratch some parts of that drawing, onto the canvas, that’s been put beneath the drawing. This sort of hand print leaves just the traces of the initial drawing, that I choose not to show. The biggest part of the process remains invisible and unreadable. The research ends without any answers about the impact of colours, I guess. The thoughts and intentions got relativised, by the abstract imagery that stands in front of you in the end. But just cause you don’t see it, doesn’t mean it is not there and vice versa.
