Initially, these pieces may appear as straightforward rectangular compositions of flat color. Yet, the surface has been made by rubbing sieved pigments of charcoal, chalk and graphite directly into the canvas. In art history these three materials are mainly used to be drawn with, not likely to be used in their bare state. Black, white and grey coming straight out of nature, applied directly on the canvas, without any chemical binders. The intention to make even, perfect surface, became secondary. Imperfection and the process itself became more important. The interruptions caused by human gesture; by weather condition (when they were in making) or the fact that there are not able to be fixed permanently, made them very fragile. The contradictory nature of their solid appearance and how they physically behave, gave them a new value. The ephemeral value, that can not be influenced by artist herself anymore.
